  1. This is really funny! Its interesting how independent of all the things each individual does, one main problem is that too many of us exist - here are some interesting links: the Center for Biological Diversity (http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/campaigns/overpopulation/pop_x/pop_x_issue_13.html) posted a really powerful and controversial article on this issue here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/01/science/earth/bringing-up-the-issue-of-population-growth.html?_r=2

  2. Interesting thought, Effie. Your comment reminds me of an article I read a while ago lamenting the difficulty of solving the problem because those that feel it is their responsibility to limit population growth will have fewer children, while those who don't believe they need to personally address the problem will have as many children as they want. This results in a growing population that is potentially skewed toward people who, for whatever reason, religious or otherwise, don't feel the need to limit their reproduction, and the problem thus persists and multiplies. I guess that theory only holds up if beliefs of this nature are, in fact, passed down through generations of families, or "heritable," in some non-genetic sense. Wish I could remember what the article was called or where I saw it!
